On Monday, April 28, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Croatian Home, a lecture was held by curator Goran Pavao Mladinec of Municipal Heritage Museum of Vis under the title Sic transit gloria mundi, a lecture about three distinguished mayors from recent Vis history and about the economic, cultural and political aspects of the city of Vis during that period, accompanied by numerous photographs and depictions of the island. These were great Vis mayors who, through their work and vision, laid the foundations of modern Vis, but shortly thereafter gradually fell into collective oblivion, hence the title in translation reads – Thus passes the glory of the world. The mayors and distinguished figures who were brought back from oblivion on this occasion are Niko pl. Jakša (mayor of Vis from 1886 to 1896), then Vitez Serafin Topić (mayor of Vis from 1896 to 1915 and from 1917 to 1918) and Ivan Krstitelj (Ivanko) Farolfi (mayor of Vis from 1936 to 1941).
