In addition to the fortress, which is a protected immovable cultural heritage site Z-6288 and a valuable monument of Austrian fortification architecture on the island, its bastion houses a hydroarchaeological collection with underwater finds from the Vela Svitnja site. Seven informative panels within the bastion tell the story of Issa as the cradle of civilization on the eastern Adriatic, ceramic production on the island, trade and maritime connections, ancient shipwrecks, and valuable discoveries. On the bastion, where eight cannons originally stood and participated in the famous Battle of Vis, two additional info boards have been installed, detailing the history of the fortress and the Battle of Vis in 1866.     <\/p>\n\n<p>The museum is open to visitors daily, except Saturdays, in two shifts: 10:00 AM &#8211; 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM &#8211; 9:00 PM. It will temporarily close on October 20, 2025, for work on a new exhibition.
